We are living through one of the most challenging periods in our nation’s history.

That’s why I am standing to be the leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party and our next Prime Minister.

As the son of two working class parents who have worked in the real world, I believe in some simple things.

I believe that every child should get the best possible start in life and the chance to fulfill their potential.

I believe that people should be in control over their own lives and that their hard work should be rewarded.

And I believe that when we gave people the chance to decide their future, in or out of the European Union, politicians should keep their promise and deliver on the result.

As someone who sat round the cabinet table three years ago and was a Minister for six years, I know what needs to be done and how to do it. To work with colleagues in Parliament, as I did when I was Chief Whip, and get the job done.

Delivering Brexit is the only way that we can heal our party, unite our country and move on to defeating Jeremy Corbyn at the next election.

But the challenges facing our country are about much more than Brexit. With fresh ideas for the future we can take Britain forward:

  1. Giving more people from backgrounds like mine the opportunities to succeed
  2. Encouraging enterprise, competition and choice
  3. Ensuring that work always pays
  4. Investing in every child
  5. Continuing to cut taxes
  6. Building more of the homes that we need
  7. Fixing our NHS and social care
  8. Changing our politics
  9. Taking action on climate change
  10. And fighting Britain’s corner on the world stage

I may be the underdog in this race – but it’s always the underdog that has the strongest fighting spirit.

And in these challenging times, it is that fighting spirit that the Conservative Party needs and it’s what the country needs too

So let’s rise to the challenge. Stand with me and together let’s build something we can all be proud of.
